Top 4 Reasons to Learn to Outsource
By Michael Wilson
Many small business owners hesitate to outsource. There many reasons: "I don't have extra money in my budget" or "it's faster to do it myself" or "it's too hard to explain what I do." We have all thought them. These same business owners race around, trying to do every task that passes over their desk and wonder why they always feel overwhelmed and why they can't accomplish what they want. Outsourcing is an undervalued skill on a small business owner's resume, but it is also a skill which can really make a difference. By using other people's skills, time, and expertise, the small business owner can multiply his business many fold. 1. Leverage other people's time. Let others work while you do something else. 2. Leverage other people's expertise. You don't have to be an expert on everything. The CEO of a car manufacturer doesn't know how to build cars--he lets other people know how to do that. You can let others have expertise you don't have. And what's better, by using other's expertise, you are allowing them to exercise their core genius! 3. Leverage other people's ideas. Surround yourself by a good team when a problem comes up, you can ask them for ideas. You still make the decisions but now you have help. 4. The joy of focusing on your core genius. Core Genius Core genius is the ideas, creativity, inspiration and uniqueness that makes you different from everyone else. Core genius is the special something that only you can do because you have a different understanding than everyone else. It is the thing you do that is so easy that it doesn't feel like work at all. As a small business owner, your core genius is what makes your business special and this is what you should be spending your time on. Focus on offering your unique gifts to your business, and let others do the other tasks. Outsourcing is one skill that can be applied universally to business challenges. The next time you start a project, ask yourself "What can other people do to make this project a reality?" Outsource that work and save your to-do list for your core genius.
